It's 2016! I wanted to take this chance to brainstorm a new design for my personal identity this new year. I love the simpleness yet versatile nature of geometry so I've been drawing different sketches using elements such as lines or triangles combining with my initials “Y”, “W” for Youwen, or “M” for Mark.
I finally came up with an idea using four identical triangles to form an isosceles triangle and a parallelogram, which represent two of my favorite things - Origami, and Tangram puzzle.
Origami starts from something simple and then step by step transforms into fascinating structures with great precision. Tangram on the other hand doesn’t have rules; there’s no right or wrong for tangram, it can grow into different shapes base on the same elements, the only limit is your imagination. These two things reflect the duality of my nature - a person passionate about the combination of art and science, design and technology.
I made a visual documentation of this new identity and hopefully I’ll apply it to my website and other web presences pretty soon, enjoy!
